My big question though is.how does this tactic work against a defensive army if my anvil is meant to just sit back and wait for him. Or I could completely avoid that flank and take a turn or two to spring around to the side of his flank with my hammer.if that makes sense. I hear that it is difficult to replicate and reenact the real-life historical Hammer and Anvil tactics in 40k, but does my hammer really have to be something the enemy is surprised to see (historically, the "anvil" would draw the enemy in, then a hidden "hammer" would spring out behind or to the side of the incomming forces)? What if I simply surprised him on a flank? I could set up my anvil so that my enemy is drawn to a certain flank, then intercept that flank with my hammer (fast units). eldar list that I think will be fairly effective if I can get the hang of it, though it may have some weaknesses. Hey everyone, this is my first time posting on warseer :)
